JSON (JavaScript Object Notation) is a lightweight data-interchange format. It is easy for humans to read and write and easy for machines to parse and generate. It is based on a subset of the JavaScript Programming Language Standard ECMA-262 3rd Edition - December 1999.

JSON is a text format that is completely language independent but uses conventions that are familiar to programmers of the C-family of languages, including C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, Perl, Python, and many others.

JSON syntax is derived from JavaScript object notation, but it is entirely text-based. It follows these syntax rules:

• Data is represented in name/value pairs
• Curly braces hold objects
• Square brackets hold arrays
• Names are followed by a colon
• Values can be strings, numbers, objects, arrays, true, false, or null
• Name/value pairs are separated by commas

• Missing or extra comma: Commas must separate each name/value pair, but there shouldn't be a comma after the last pair in an object.
• Missing quotes around property names: All property names must be enclosed in double quotes.
• Single quotes instead of double quotes: JSON requires double quotes for strings and property names.
• Trailing commas: A comma after the last element in an array or last property in an object is not allowed.
